Are Soybean Yields Getting a Free Ride from Climate Change? Evidence from Argentine Time Series Data

نویسندگان

چکیده

We analyze the influence of climate change on soybean yields in a multivariate time-series framework for major producer and exporter—Argentina. Long-run relationships are found partial systems involving climatic, technological, economic factors. Automatic model selection simplifies dynamic specification permits encompassing tests different hypotheses. Soybean adjust to disequilibria that reflect technological improvements seed crops practices. Climatic effects include (a) positive effect from increased CO2 concentrations, which may capture accelerated photosynthesis, (b) negative high local temperatures, could increase with continued global warming.

Determinants of healthcare expenditures in Iran: evidence from a time series analysis

Background: A dramatic increase in healthcare expenditures is a major health policy concern worldwide. Understanding factors that underlie the growth in healthcare expenditures is essential to assist decision-makers in finding best policies to manage healthcare costs. We aimed to examine the determinants of healthcare spending in Iran over the periods of 1978-2011. Methods: A time series ana...

What Affects Inequality? Evidence from Time Series Data

Using an annual data series on inequality in Australia since 1941, six possible determinants of inequality are tested: unionisation, the minimum wage, immigration, trade, growth, and unemployment. To properly assess the impact of immigration and trade on the income distribution, new measures of the human capital of the average immigrant, and human capital embodied in imports, are developed. Gra...

Determinants of suicides in Denmark: evidence from time series data.

This research examines empirically the determinants of suicides in Denmark over the period 1970-2006. To our knowledge, there exist no previous study that estimates a dynamic econometric model of suicides on the basis of time series data and cointegration framework at disaggregate level. Our results indicate that suicide is associated with a range of socio-economic factors but the strength of t...

Preference shocks from aggregation: time series data evidence

We investigate the impact of preference shocks on the aggregate dynamics of the U.S. economy in the context of a neoclassical growth model derived from aggregation. The aggregation result we use is as follows: if markets are complete and if agents have identical preferences of the addilog type, then the heterogeneous-agent economy where agents are subject to idiosyncratic productivity shocks be...

Tracking Climate Change Opinions from Twitter Data

The Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released in 2014 states that warming of the climate system is “unequivocal,” and it is “extremely likely” that human influence has been the dominant cause. However, public perceptions of anthropogenic climate change have varied widely, and indeed may have been significantly influenced by a disproportionate...
